Research Proposal |
Proposal Title, Hypothesis, and Aims Due: Friday, 04/20/07 |
Full Research Proposal Due: Monday, 05/21/07 |
Write a 6 - 10 page (single space) research proposal that uses NMR to answer an important question in biochemistry. If you are having trouble selecting a topic, look at recent review articles (e.g. Annual Reviews of Biochemistry), and try to design a proposal that would answer one of the open questions in that area. If you are still having trouble, please ask for help in choosing a topic. Please feel free to talk over topics and outlines with either of us.
Structure your proposal as outlined below. Don't include "Section 1", "Section 2", etc., just the headings (Title, Central Hypothesis, ...).
(Section 1: 1/2 - 1 page)
Title
Central Hypothesis (one to three sentences)
Specific Aims to test hypothesis (two to three)
(Section 2: 1 page)
Background and Significance - Introduce the problem, and put it in the overall context of biology, biochemistry, or medicine.
(Section 3: 3-5 pages)
Research Plan - Explain in detail how you will accomplish your "Specific Aims", and what the results will say about your "Central Hypothesis"
(Section 4: 1 or more pages)
References - Author, Title, Journal, Volume, Pages, Year
