Matthew W. Vetting

elcome to my home page. I am an instructor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM), which is located in the Bronx borough of New York city. I received my PhD from the University of Minnesota in the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology studying under Dr. Douglas Ohlendorf.

My general area of study is the application of crystallography towards biochemical problems. Previously, my work centered on the study of aromatic ring cleaving dioxygenases (ARCDs). I am now working with Dr. John Blanchard here at AECOM. Currently, our group is studying proteins that are important to the survival of pathogenic bacteria and therefore are potential drug targets. The determination of the 3-dimensional structure of such proteins has became a critical component in drug design.
